Female breasts are a potent symbol of beauty, motherhood and vitality. So it’s no surprise that women may decide to enlarge their breasts to achieve a balance in size and/or shape for their breasts. At Arora Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, Dr. Balvant Arora uses implants and/or fat grafting for this purpose. Breast augmentation is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the United States and one of our most popular services. Book an appointment today.
Breast augmentation, also known as breast enlargement, breast enhancement and even boob job, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that helps women achieve fuller, firmer, better-proportioned, great-looking, natural-feeling breasts which enhance the figure of their body while establishing aesthetic proportion with the overall figure.
Breast Augmentation With Silicone Implants: Silicone implants are a popular choice for breast augmentation surgery. The cohesive gel in these silicone implants make them natural-feeling, while also providing the option to choose between round or tear drop shapes available in varying sizes.
Breast Augmentation With Saline Implants: Saline implants are a popular alternative to silicone implants. They are silicone shells filled with saline (salt water). They can be either pre-filled or filled after placement in the breasts.
Fat grafting is a technique in which fat extracted from one’s own body through liposuction can be used to inject into the breasts. It is a more natural way to increase the breast size.
Women with fully developed breasts who are unhappy with the size (small or uneven), shape or appearance of their breasts can opt for this surgery.
Women in good physical health, non-smokers or willing to quit smoking and having realistic expectations are good candidates for breast augmentation surgery.
The person should also be able to take time off work in order to recover from their procedure before they can return back again with energy!
Book AppointmentDuring the consultation, Dr. Balvant Arora will cover a number of important topics:
The basic principle is to place an implant either under the breasts over the muscle or under the muscle. The operation is done under general anesthesia and involves making one small incision close to where the lower border of the breast meets with chest wall muscle (just below the breast in the inframammary crease) or around the nipple (periareolar). After creating the pocket in which the implants are placed, the incision is closed. The implants can also be placed via incisions in the axilla (transaxillary) or via incision around the umbilicus (TUBA or transumbilical breast augmentation).
Breast augmentation using fat graft involves removal of fat from another area of the body, usually the tummy, buttocks, or thighs, and injected into the breasts. First, the fat is removed via liposuction. Then, it’s allowed to settle and the fluid and blood are removed and the fat left behind is injected using specific cannula under the breast tissue with a syringe.
After breast augmentation, patients are usually kept under observation for two to three hours to make sure that there are no concerns. The patient needs to wear support garments and should avoid any kind of activity that involves heavy movement or lifting. The prescribed medications to alleviate the pain and soreness need to be taken. Stitches are generally dissolvable so they won’t need removal.
Breast augmentation is a popular cosmetic procedure among women for a variety of reasons like:
The cost of breast augmentation surgery will vary depending on which procedure you choose - whether it’s implants and/or fat grafting. Other factors that affect the total price include facility costs and post-surgery garments. The cost of breast augmentation surgery is not covered by insurance.
